BEHIND THE CAMERA

My name is Tana Ascher, and I am a photographer based out of Neenah, WI. At the age of 14, I took the money that I earned from babysitting and bought myself my first camera. Most of the photos that I took then were of my friends and little sister. I would walk across town to get them developed, and I remember being so excited to see the photos that I would pay extra to get them back in an hour. Since then, my passion for photography has continued to grow. I am currently attending school at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College for Photography to gain more knowledge and perfect my skills.

I have always loved that you can freeze a moment in time that tells a story in a single snapshot, a moment that you can go back to and relive any time you would like. Being a photographer has taught me to slow down, which has helped me to notice and appreciate the small things. It is my goal to capture images that are unique and creative, as well as interesting and beautiful. I hope to really grab your attention and bring out your emotions.

I am happily married to my best friend and have two teenage daughters. When I am not out working on a photography project, you will find me spending time with my family or out at the barn with my girls helping them to care for their horses. I am a huge animal lover and have adopted many over the years. I currently have two dogs, two cats, a bunny, and two horses. My favorite band is Phish, and I have gone to many of their concerts.  I have a serious weakness when it comes to baked goods, with cake being my favorite. In the summer I love to spend time outside in my garden and have been known to spend more money than I should on flowers. I spend a lot of time out in nature, but my absolute favorite place to go is the barn. I love life and look at each new day as an adventure.
